Now that gas prices are significantly above $3 dollors a gallon can we PLEASE stop saying "the cost of gas is still less than back in the 80's when adjusted for inflation..blah blah blah"

I don't care about adjusting for inflation, I was only 2 or 3 durring that time frame, but what I do know is that paying over $55 to fill up one tank of gas is just to expensive. I need a more fule efficent ride.
